Rare Beer Tuesday from CBX

This just in from the boys at CBX...

Here's the latest update on all the exciting happenings at The Charleston Beer Exchange:

Rare Beer Tuesday (2/2)
Tomorrow is Tuesday again and for this week's Rare Beer Tuesday we will be filling growlers of Great Divide Hoss Rye Lager starting at 5pm!  No bottles of this beer came to SC and we were lucky to snag this keg.  Come on down and try it out!  This is an affordable one!
Commercial Description:  "Hoss is based on the Märzen lagers of Germany. Rich, layered malt notes, with some hints of cherry and dark notes, dominate while the unique addition of rye imparts a slightly earthy, spicy character. Hoss finishes crisp and dry, and its brilliant red-orange color is a toast to the late-summer sunsets that make the perfect backdrop for this beer."

Charleston Brewvival (2/27)
Don't forget to get your tickets for our exciting craft beer festival coming up February 27th in North Charleston!  Go to CharlestonBrewvival.com for all the info.  The brewery/beer list keeps getting better and better!  Please follow Brewvival on Facebook and Twitter for real-time news and updates!

Rare Beer Tuesday, Charleston Beer Exchange

As you may have heard, the new 2010 Sierra Nevada Bigfoot Barleywine just arrived in stock at CBX.

Both bottles and growlers are available now!

To celebrate the once a year release of an all time favorite, we thought we'd bring out a vintage keg of last year's Bigfoot, 2009, for this "Rare Beer Tuesday" feature!  Bigfoot is one of the most popular beers to age and this will be a great opportunity to see how the 2009 is coming along!

Unlike some of our other Tuesday features, this one is quite a bargain, especially at 9.6% ABV!  Both the 2010 and 2009 will be available simultaneously so if you really want to have fun try a growler of both!

Rare Beer Tuesday at The Charleston Beer Exchange!

Rare Beer Tuesday (1/5)
As we do every Tuesday at 5pm, we'll be tapping something extra special on the growler station!  Our feature this week is Terrapin The Dark Side.  This is #9 in their Side Project series and is an 8.5% ABV Belgian Style Imperial Stout!  Here's the Commercial Description:
"Terrapin Side Project #9: The Dark Side, a Belgian Style Imperial Stout. Come on over to "The Dark Side" for the latest brew in the Terrapin "Side Project" series. Brewed with evil intentions, this Belgian Style Imperial Stout is made with copious amounts of dark grains that make this beer as dark as the underside of Vader's cape. "The Dark Side" is fermented with a unique Belgian yeast strain which sets this Imperial Stout light years ahead of its time."

Don't be afraid of the cold!  Come on out and get warmed up by a growler of this wonderful beer!

Rare Beer Tuesday with New Holland Brewing at CBX

Rare Beer Tuesday (12/8)
As you probably know, every Tuesday at 5pm we tap something extraordinary on the growler station for growler fills.  This week we have a double feature!  From New Holland Brewing Company, out of Holland, Michigan, we are thrilled to have Dragon's Milk Ale Aged in Oak Barrels and Pilgrim's Dole Wheat Wine!  Both of these wonderful beers are extremely rare to find on draft let alone having them both at once.

Dragon's Milk weighs in at 9% ABV and is aged in used 1st and 2nd fill Heaven Hill Bourbon Barrels which give this stout-like beer wonderful depths of vanilla and oak.  Pilgrim's Dole weighs in at a whopping 11% ABV and is referred to as a "Wheat Wine" by the brewery.  A kind of barleywine-style ale but brewed using 50% wheat.  This beer is then barrel aged in the used barrels that have previously held Dragon's Milk!  Both of these big beers are world class!  Don't miss the chance to try them.

Read more about these beers and New Holland Brewing here.

Charleston Beer Exchange News

Bell's Two Hearted Firkin (11/19)
Please join us on tonight at 5pm when we tap a cask of Bell's Two Hearted Ale for growler fills!  This is what you've all been waiting for!  Derek Zomonski from Bell's will be here for the launch of Two Hearted!  If you are not familiar, real cask ale is beer in its purest form: keg conditioned without force carbonation, filtering or processing.  We tap it with a spigot and let gravity do its work.  The flavors, aromas and texture are especially beautiful and unique.  It is highly perishable and must be consumed the same day so plan accordingly!  These growlers will be limited, first come-first serve so don't miss out!

In addition to the firkin, we will have Two Hearted available on the growler station, in bottles and in 5L mini kegs! We will also have Bell's Expedition Stout and Bell's Rye Stout on the growler station!  And if you buy two Bell's growlers, a 5L mini keg, or a case of Two Hearted you get a free Bell's pint glass!

New in Bottles/Back in Stock
Highland Cold Mountain (due in Friday!)
RJ Rockers Black Perle (due in Friday!)
Bell's Two Hearted Ale (bottles and 5L mini keg cans)

OPEN on Thanksgiving Morning!
That's right!  We will be open the morning of Thanksgiving (11/26) from 10am-1pm!  Please come in to ask us about beer pairing ideas for all of your favorite Thanksgiving dishes and stock up on some great beers for Thanksgiving Day!  Also, we still have a few pumpkin beers available in bottles and we will have Weyerbacher Imperial Pumpkin Ale on the growler station along with The Bruery Autumn Maple

Please follow us on Twitter and Facebook to see exactly when we tap these Thanksgiving beers!  Or you can always go to www.thecharlestonbeerexchange.com to see what's on the growler station - we update it in real time!
